Carlos Schiebeck Recognized for Accomplishments in Photojournalism
Carlos Schiebeck celebrates a 46-year career as a photojournalist for leading press organizations

BUENA PARK, CA, September 6, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Carlos Schiebeck, Photographer (Retired) for United Press International, Inc. and Photographer and Bureau Manager (Retired) for Agence France-Presse, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of photojournalism

Now retired from photojournalism, Mr. Schiebeck was responsible for taking photographs, keeping up with major news stories, dispatching photographers and stringers to required areas, and editing and transmitting news. He mainly worked in Latin America and South America because of his proficiency in those languages, traveled to 17 countries and covered news globally. When Mr. Schiebeck announced his retirement in Los Angeles, he received a letter from Ronald Reagan dated December 15, 1994, congratulating him on his retirement. He feels it was rare for a newsperson other than one stationed in Washington to receive correspondence from a President. Author and publisher Gary Haynes in his book "Picture This" used three pictures and three stories about Mr. Schiebeck, and four of his pictures were hung in the World Press Awards in the Hague. He became involved in his profession after his father bought him a 13.00 dollar film developing kit that piqued his interest in media and entertainment. He attributes his success to being Mexican, his goal-oriented nature and to his ability to excel.

Mr. Schiebeck is a member of the Press Photographers Association of Greater Los Angeles and is a 1963 recipient of the Photographer of the Year Award from the Press Photographers Association. He was also honored with Press Awards in Hague. He hopes to continue writing books.
